Expert knowledge, productised.

A pediatric sleep consultancy scaled beyond one-to-one.

The problem

A pediatric sleep consultant with a full client load and a waiting list. Every parent who needed help required her time directly. The expertise was there. The hours weren't. The goal wasn't to replace her - it was to build something that could carry her methods, her tone, and her judgement to parents who couldn't get to her directly.

What we built

iOS mobile application

Designed, built, and shipped to the App Store. Production-ready, not a prototype.

Custom AI sleep consultant

Trained on the expert's real consultation methods, advice structures, and emotional tone. Not a generic chatbot. A product that responds the way a human expert would.

Personalised guidance flows

Recommendations that adapt based on the baby's age, feeding routine, and parent-specific inputs.

Location-based sleepwear advice

Live weather data pulled at the point of recommendation, so advice was practical, not just general.

Structured journaling

Sleep, feeding, and routine tracking built for parents running on low sleep, not for data enthusiasts.

Curated resource library

Video tutorials and PDF guides authored by the expert, surfaced at the right moment rather than dumped in a menu.

Parent community space

Shared learning and reassurance alongside expert content, because most sleep problems feel less frightening once you know you're not the only one.

The challenge worth mentioning

Translating human expertise into AI behaviour is harder than it sounds. The gap between "here's what I'd say" and "here's a system that says it correctly, every time, to any parent" is significant. The discovery process had to come first - observing real consultations, unpacking the logic behind advice, identifying the patterns that made guidance land well with stressed, sleep-deprived parents. Only then could the AI be structured around those principles rather than around what a generic language model would default to. The other constraint was the user. This isn't a product for tech-comfortable early adopters. Parents accessing it at 3am, mid-crisis, needed onboarding and flows designed around that reality.

Where it is now

Released on the App Store with a paying user base. The product validated real demand and demonstrated that specialist expertise can be scaled responsibly through a well-designed AI system. The app was later taken down following the co-founder's exit from the project.

Ask - Otti's AI sleep coach answering a parent's question about bedtime clothing
Sleep - Otti's personalised evening home screen for parents
Learn - Expert sleep consultant resources and video guides inside the Otti app

The goal was always to augment expert knowledge, not replace it. That distinction shaped every decision - from how the AI was trained to how the app was written.
